Assassin Creed Black Flag Resynced: the return of the legend
09.06.26
The release of the long-awaited remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is only a month away. As part of Summer Game Fest 2026, Ubisoft released a new official trailer for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, once again reminding players of the return of one of the most beloved parts of the franchise.
The video features a rejuvenated Edward Kenway grooving through the Caribbean to Woodkid’s sea ballad “Leave Her, Johnny.”
Not a remaster, but a complete rethinking of the iconic game
Unlike many modern re-releases, Black Flag Resynced is positioned not as a cosmetically improved version of the original, but as a full-fledged remake, created almost from scratch on the modernized Anvil engine.
The developers have reworked the key technical elements of the project, while preserving the basis that made the original 2013 game one of the most successful parts of the Assassin’s Creed series.
The new version received:
- modern global lighting system;
- significantly improved graphics and detailing of the environment;
- updated simulation of water and sea waves;
- support for DLSS 4.5 image scaling technologies;
- reworked weather and lighting visual effects.
Special attention was paid to sea voyages, which were the hallmark of the original Black Flag. Thanks to the technologies used in the development of Skull and Bones, sea battles have become noticeably more realistic both in terms of the physics of ships and the behavior of waves during storms and battles.
The combat system has become closer to modern Assassin’s Creed
The changes also affected the ground gameplay. According to Ubisoft, the melee system has been significantly reworked and now places more emphasis on parries, counterattacks, and timing, reminiscent of the mechanics of later parts of the franchise.
At the same time, the developers emphasize that the story campaign will remain practically unchanged. The story of Edward Kenway, his path from pirate to assassin, as well as the main game mechanics of the original were preserved so as not to disturb the atmosphere of the classic Black Flag.
What will be the PC version
At the same time, Ubisoft revealed the system requirements of the remake.
For a comfortable game, a configuration with an Intel Core i5-10600K processor, 16 GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 video card is recommended.
However, to run the project in maximum quality with 4K resolution, the developers recommend much more powerful equipment, up to the use of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090.
The size of the installed game will be about 65 GB, and installation on an SSD is a mandatory requirement.
Price and release date
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced will be released on July 9, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
The standard edition will cost $59.99.
For many fans of the series, this project may become one of the most anticipated releases of the summer, as the original Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag is still considered one of the best games in the entire history of the franchise thanks to the combination of open world, pirate romance, sea battles and a charismatic protagonist.
