Samsung Electronics has regained the lead in global smartphone sales 5 months after losing to Apple. According to official data, the return was allegedly due to the release of new Galaxy S24 smartphones.
Samsung lost the top spot to Apple last September, but the Galaxy 24, which has a number of artificial intelligence features, has received positive response from the market since its debut in January. Although technically the new models differ minimally from the previous ones. Recently, the American magazine Consumer Reports named the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s camera the best phone in the world.
In February, Samsung sold 19.69 million smartphones and captured 20% of the market. Apple has sold 17.41 million phones and has an 18% share, according to market researcher Counterpoint Research. Analysts attribute Samsung’s return to first place to strong sales in the United States and European markets. Samsung Galaxy smartphones retained first place in the European market with a share of 34%. Apple’s market share in the US fell from 64% to 48% over the same period.
