YouTube adds voiceover feature for videos in other languages

YouTube has introduced an AI-powered voiceover feature that allows you to create audio tracks in multiple languages. The technology, which is based on Google Gemini, mimics natural human speech.

English, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish are supported at launch. Once a video is uploaded, the platform automatically detects the original language and offers voiceovers in available languages, making the content accessible to viewers around the world.

The feature is especially useful for educational channels, such as cooking and crafting channels. In the future, YouTube plans to expand support for new languages ​​and add features that allow you to convey the emotions and tone of the original speaker.

Although the technology is in its early stages, the company is actively working on improving it.

Google is gradually raising the price of its Premium subscription. In December 2023, the company told US users with old plans (derived from the discontinued Google Play Music or YouTube Red services) that starting next year they would have to pay the full price of $13 per month. Now, the message has been sent to users in many countries.

YouTube communications manager Paul Pennington confirmed that prices are increasing for both YouTube Premium, which removes ads from the streaming video and music service, and for individual YouTube Music plans:

“We are updating the prices of YouTube Premium and YouTube Music Premium for new and existing subscribers in Bulgaria, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Estonia, Spain, Finland, Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, Kuwait, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Latvia. Rico, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Uruguay and Turkey,” writes Paul Pennington.

As you can see, among the countries mentioned, there is no Ukraine, where YouTube has introduced regional prices, so an individual subscription costs 99 hryvnias per month, and a family subscription (for six accounts) costs 149 hryvnias. But it is possible that the cost of a YouTube Premium subscription in Ukraine will also increase in the future.
