Xiaomi 14 Ultra smartphone announced: variable aperture camera module and camera holder

Xiaomi 14 Ultra

Xiaomi has announced a new flagship in its line of smartphones – Xiaomi 14 Ultra. This device has a number of interesting photographic characteristics, including a main camera with a large inch sensor (specifically, the Sony LYT-900) and a variable aperture of 1024 stops ranging from f/1.63 to f/4.0.

Everything for the camera

Xiaomi 14 Ultra

The Xiaomi 14 Ultra smartphone, in addition to the main 50-megapixel one-inch sensor, has three additional 50-megapixel cameras: telephoto with 3.2x optical zoom, periscope with 5x optical zoom and ultra-wide-angle with a field of view of 122 degrees. These cameras are housed in a large circular bump, different from the square bump on the 14 and 14 Pro.

To highlight the photographic capabilities of the phone, Xiaomi offersa special photography kit for the 14 Ultra, which includes a grip and a shutter button. This grip connects via USB-C and contains an additional 1,500mAh battery and customizable controls that can be used to adjust aperture, shutter speed, or ISO.

Characteristics

The Xiaomi 14 Ultra is also powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and its screen has the same specs as the 14 Pro: 6.73-inch diagonal, 1440p resolution, maximum refresh rate and peak brightness of 120Hz and 3,000 nits respectively. The device is also protected from dust and water according to the IP68 standard.

One of the advantages of Xiaomi 14 Ultra compared to 14 Pro is the battery capacity, which is 5300 mAh versus 4880 mAh. However, it is interesting that the maximum fast charging power of the 14 Ultra is90W and not 120W like the 14 Pro. Xiaomi 14 Ultra also supports wireless charging at speeds of up to 80 W.

Prices

Prices for the device start at 6,499 yen (approximately $904) for the version with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, and go up to 7,799 yen (approximately $1,084) for the model with 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. There is also a special titanium model available, priced at 8,799 yen (approximately $1,224). But in Europe all this will be at least 20-30% more expensive.

The international version of the device will be presented at the company’s presentation at the MWC Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, where it will be presented along with the Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro, which was launched in China in October last year.
