Spotify Exclusive Mode will prevent sound screwing up by operating system
20.03.26
Spotify has added a new playback mode to its desktop version for Windows, Exclusive Mode. It gives the app direct control over audio output, bypassing some of the system processing.
How Spotify Exclusive Mode works
In standard mode, the operating system processes the audio before outputting it to the device. This can include resampling the signal, mixing it with system messages, and changing the volume level. As a result, the final sound may differ from the original track.
Accessibility and settings
Currently, the feature is only available in the Windows. Support for macOS is announced, but will appear later.
Enabling the mode is done through the program settings: Playback section → Output block → Exclusive Mode option.
