Promising Chinese startup GigaBrain officially debuted their new development at a technology launch event in Wuhan’s innovation district, Optics Valley. While the largest Western technology corporations are competing in the automation of Amazon warehouses and Tesla conveyors, engineers from the PRC have created the Shiguang S1 model. This autonomous home robot is designed to enter ordinary apartments and take over everyday household tasks.

The Shiguang S1 robot is a multifunctional hardware and software platform, focused on working in direct contact with people in a home environment. It is not like monotonous industrial manipulators. His main vocation is to help a person overcome daily tasks, simplifying everyday life and turning the chaos of the apartment into a structured order.

Duties of the robot assistant

The developers have prepared a significant list of duties for a household assistant. Currently, the Shiguang S1 robot is capable of performing the following tasks:

• quickly and neatly fold scattered clothes;
• provide help in the kitchen with preliminary preparation of ingredients for dishes;
• clean dirty dishes and cutlery from the dining table independently.

The most important technological advantage of Shiguang S1 is the built-in adaptive self-learning function. The device is not limited to a rigidly programmed set of commands. The robot is able to scan the layout of a specific room and quickly adapts to the personal living habits of the residents. It is easily adjusted if the owners often rearrange or prefer a special way of sorting laundry.

Robot safety system

Management of the entire system is based on GigaBrain’s original proprietary model of artificial intelligence. The presence of advanced AI allows the device to build complex logical chains. The user does not need to explain the algorithm of actions step by step. For example, after receiving the command “to get into the kitchen”, the intelligent machine will independently evaluate the work front, first wipe the dirty countertop, and then move the dishes to the sink.

Engineers paid a lot of attention to aspects of home security. Since the design of the device has significant weight and active mechanical parts, an instant protective stop algorithm is implemented inside. When fixing physical contact with the owner or pets, the robot immediately freezes, excluding any risk of injury at home.

Shiguang S1 release date and price

The exact retail price of the Shiguang S1 is currently not disclosed by the manufacturer. GigaBrain representatives aim to make the project commercially available to the mass consumer in the future, but for now they are in no hurry to enter the global market.

Instead of open sales, a pilot program was launched to test the new product in residential buildings in the city of Wuhan to finalize the algorithms in conditions of real chaos. According to the reports of the authoritative profile publication IT Home, the release of the next refined generation of the roboplatform is scheduled for the third quarter of 2026. It is this modernized version that will become the basis for mass serial production.
