Sennheiser Momentum 5 have become “eternal” headphones thanks to a replaceable battery

The German audio giant Sennheiser presented the fifth generation of its flagship wireless headphones — Sennheiser Momentum 5. The new wireless model incorporated the best efforts of the company’s engineers and software developers. It is aimed both at demanding audiophiles who are used to uncompromising sound, and at modern city dwellers who need a highly efficient system of adaptive noise cancellation and long battery life on frequent trips or when working in the office.

Innovative features

The most important component of Sennheiser Momentum 5 is high-quality technical stuffing. The acoustic tuning of the installed Irish 42 mm speakers was carried out with reference to the HD 600 series open-wired headphones. As a result, it was possible to get a more refined, deep stage, a perfectly defined midrange, as well as an energetic and assertive bass.

Design of Sennheiser Momentum 5 Black

Considerable resources have gone into improving active noise cancellation. The manufacturer has doubled the total number of built-in microphones – now there are four on each cup (eight in total). Thanks to an intelligent adaptive algorithm, ANC fights complex noises like office noise or human conversations in traffic with triple power.

An important software feature of the device is the Snapdragon Sound platform with the ability to broadcast pure audio in wireless “bit-by-bit” quality without compression, activating the aptX Lossless codec. On the first day after the release of the model, along with a fresh software update, Dolby Atmos spatial surround sound will be available to owners, which precisely adjusts to the movements and turns of the user’s head.

Software Smart Control Plus App for equalizer

Additional details are provided by SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX HD and aptX Adaptive codecs, and for subtle audiophile add-ons to personal preferences, the developers have updated the proprietary utility to the Smart Control Plus version with a built-in detailed 8-band parametric equalizer.

Autonomy and unique concept of maintainability

One of the most important surprises of Sennheiser Momentum 5 was its concern for ecology and maintainability. A special replaceable rechargeable battery with a capacity of 700 mAh is built into the case. The user can dismantle and quickly replace a tired battery by himself right at home: only a familiar miniature Phillips screwdriver is needed.

Due to the new concept, the developers had to slightly reduce the operating time of the headphones – now this indicator is estimated at 57 hours of active music playback with continuous ANC. The ancestor of the generation in the form of Momentum 4 worked for 60 hours. However, this microscopic step back is fully compensated by actually saving the product from aging and battery aging.

Optimized fast charging thanks to USB-C technology: it is enough to put the device near the outlet for just 10 minutes, and you will get a full 7 hours of further listening.

New Momentum 5 travel protective case

Designers reduced the thickness of the portable road protective case immediately by 20% in terms of depth, designing the rotation of the cups along one of the planes. The weight of the headphones is a comfortable 290 grams.

Color palette and price

Retail buyers from all over the world will be offered a choice between classic and stylish palettes: black classic (Black), clean and elegant white shade (White) and sophisticated denim trim (Denim).

Available colors: White, Black and Denim

From the official date of June 16, the new Sennheiser Momentum 5 Wireless are launched in full sale on worldwide trading platforms. The price is set at $399.99 (approximately €399.90 in Europe) — $50 more than its predecessors from the previous line.
