Tesla is expanding the functionality of its electric vehicles: Model Y Premium owners now have official access to the Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) feature alongside brand-new interior organizers. This update turns the popular crossover into a mobile power source and improves internal storage efficiency.

V2L Support for Model Y Premium

Tesla has officially removed restrictions on power export functionality for its most popular model. Previously limited to the Performance version and the long-range Model Y L, V2L technology is now integrated across the entire Premium lineup in the U.S. The vehicle can now serve as an external battery for camping equipment, portable air compressors, or as an emergency power source.

To operate the system, users must utilize the Tesla Gen 3 Mobile Connector and a specific Outlet Adapter, sold separately via the official app. This setup provides two standard 120V/20A household outlets. It is important to note that this is not a Vehicle-to-Home system and will not replace a home electrical grid during outages, but it provides sufficient power for laptops, work tools, or small refrigerators.

Official Under-Seat Storage Trays

Tesla has also introduced official under-seat trays, addressing the need for extra small-item storage. Previously, the areas beneath the front seats were hollow, often causing loose items to slide into the pedal area during sudden braking. The manufacturer has now offered a custom-engineered solution that accounts for the cabin geometry, ensures airflow remains unobstructed, and does not compromise legroom.

The official accessory features an anti-slip coating and the Tesla logo. While third-party options from marketplaces like Amazon cost $30 for a pair, Tesla’s $40-per-unit original solution offers guaranteed compatibility and superior build quality.
