OpenAI has released a desktop version of ChatGPT for macOS

ChatGPT desktop

OpenAI CTO Meera Murati has announced the release of ChatGPT desktop software, currently only available on macOS.

During Tuesday’s OpenAI event, a demo of the desktop program was given. Users could open ChatGPT in a small window next to other applications. They could ask ChatGPT questions about the content on their screen by typing or speaking queries. ChatGPT could then respond based on the visual data.

Users can access ChatGPT using the Option + Space keyboard shortcut and share and discuss screenshots within the app. Both users of the paid and free versions of the service will have access to the program. However, today it is only available to ChatGPT Plus users, with expansion to other user groups in the coming weeks.

OpenAI plans to launch a Windows version of the program “later this year.” In addition, ChatGPT is already available as an application for iOS and Android.
