Huawei Pura 90 Pro and Huawei Pura 90 Pro Max: Bet on own chip, camera and autonomy without regard to competitors
01.05.26
Huawei Pura 90 Pro and Huawei Pura 90 Pro Max are Huawei’s new flagship smartphones, in which the company is strengthening its course towards complete technological independence and a closed ecosystem. The line emphasizes the powerful capabilities of photo and video recording, increased autonomy and deep integration of proprietary hardware and software.
Kirin 9030S and autonomous ecosystem strategy
Smartphones are based on the proprietary Kirin 9030S processor, which, according to the stated indicators, provides up to 25% increase in productivity compared to the previous generation.
At the same time, the key point here is not in the race with competitors for “raw” power, but in the deep optimization of the entire system. In connection with HarmonyOS 6.1, the chip demonstrates stable and predictable operation without sharp drops under load. Accordingly, this is a reflection of Huawei’s strategy: to build a closed ecosystem where hardware and software parts are maximally adapted to each other.
Displays: large format and adaptive smoothness
Both models are equipped with OLED screens with a dynamic refresh rate from 1 to 120 Hz. This allows devices to automatically adjust the smoothness of the image to the current type of activity, from static viewing of content to active scrolling of the interface.
Huawei Pura 90 Pro received a 6.6-inch panel, and Huawei Pura 90 Pro Max – an enlarged 6.9-inch display. The older version additionally stands out with an improved anti-glare coating, which is especially noticeable when used outdoors or under bright lighting.
Both screens support the display of more than a billion shades, which ensures high color accuracy and makes the devices suitable not only for everyday use, but also for working with visual content.
Cameras, autonomy and positioning in the premium segment

The main focus of the series is mobile photography. This is especially true of the Huawei Pura 90 Pro Max, which uses a 200-megapixel main sensor with a telephoto lens. Huawei continues to develop an approach in which the final quality of the picture is formed not only at the expense of the sensor, but also at the expense of complex post-processing and computational photography algorithms.
Both models received a battery with a capacity of 6000 mAh, which is significantly higher than the average level of the flagship segment. In combination with the support of fast charging with a power of up to 100 W, this ensures fast recovery of the charge and more flexible use of the device during the day.
In China, the starting price is around 5,500 yuan (about $760). Against the background of the characteristics, it is a competitive offer in the premium class, but the limitation of the ecosystem without Google services, as before, remains a key factor when evaluating devices outside the domestic market.
