Google Pixel won’t turn on after update: causes and possible solutions
09.04.26![]()
After the latest update, Google Pixel users have encountered serious issues: some devices fail to boot Android and have become practically unusable.
Initial user reports
The first complaints emerged last month. Owners of the Google Pixel 9 and Pixel 10 reported that their phones froze on the lock screen and that the fingerprint scanner stopped working. Google confirmed the problem and announced that a fix is in development.
Issue spreading to other models
The situation has worsened: during startup, some devices get stuck on the Google logo, and in certain cases, the following error appears:
“Unable to load Android system, data corrupted.”
The issue is not limited to new devices. Users of older models, including the Pixel 6, have reported similar problems, indicating a systemic error rather than an issue confined to a specific generation of smartphones.
Temporary workarounds
Some users have managed to temporarily restore functionality by booting the phone into safe mode, which requires holding down both the volume up and volume down buttons when the Pixel logo appears. However, this method does not work for everyone. A more complex option is installing a fix via ADB sideload, which requires technical skills and precise instructions that are inaccessible to most ordinary users.
Google’s position and recommendations
Google has acknowledged the issue and promised to release an update to fix it, though no exact timeline has been provided. In the meantime, users are advised to avoid installing the update on Pixel devices until the official fix is released.
