Following OnePlus: Rumors Claim Nothing Is Pulling Out of 12 Global Markets

The smartphone market is experiencing another wave of transformations. Following OnePlus’ official announcement that it will cease operations in North America and Europe, there are reports online that Nothing is also planning to reduce its presence, leaving 12 or more countries around the world.

Why Nothing is leaving the markets

According to available information, the changes will affect the Middle East, Japan and some European countries, in particular, possibly Ukraine. Although the details have not yet been disclosed, analysts associate such steps with rising prices for components, in particular, for memory. Small players operating in the budget and mid-price segments are finding it increasingly difficult to maintain profitability at current margins.

Staff optimization and reorganization

The company’s survival strategy involves large-scale cuts. Reports indicate a 40% reduction in staff. Research and development (R&D) divisions were particularly hard hit: about 50% of employees were cut in China and 30-40% in London.

Model sales statistics

Current market statistics raise the question of the effectiveness of the brand strategy. According to current data, sales volumes look like this:

  • Nothing Phone (4b): 20,000 units since launch.
  • Nothing Phone (4a) and (4a) Pro: about 150,000 units combined.

Despite high media activity, Nothing remains a niche brand, forced to focus on the most successful regions, such as India, where the company showed its status as a fast-growing smartphone brand in the second quarter.

The future of the brand: India as a pillar

The focus on India is not accidental. For the brand, this is a key region where the impact of marketing campaigns is transformed into real market shares. Other markets that do not show such dynamics are subject to potential optimization in order to maintain the viability of the entire Nothing business model.
