Intel Razor Lake Leaks Surface: Mobile CPUs Finally Gaining bLLC Tech

Recent leaks published by insider Jaykihn reveal Intel’s plans for mobile platform development. The Razor Lake architecture promises to be a major milestone for the company, bringing Big Last Level Cache (bLLC) technology to the mobile processor segment for the first time, serving as Intel’s direct answer to AMD’s 3D V-Cache solution.
What Is bLLC Technology in Razor Lake Processors
bLLC is Intel’s “Big Last Level Cache” technology. Previously, it was assumed to be limited to desktop solutions based on Nova Lake. However, current data indicates that Razor Lake will implement this technology in laptop processors as well. This change is aimed at competing with high-performance AMD solutions, such as HX3D chips, as well as the promising Strix, Gorgon, and Medusa Halo lineups.
Architectural Features and Specifications
The main technical update for Razor Lake will be the introduction of Griffin Cove P-cores. This is a complete new design, rather than a cosmetic refinement of the Coyote Cove cores from the Nova Lake generation. The processors are expected to be manufactured using the TSMC N2X process, although some experts, including Moore’s Law is Dead, believe that the TSMC N2P process might be used instead. It is likely that the most advanced node will be reserved for the CPU tile, while other components will be manufactured using more accessible capacity.
According to the leaks, the graphics subsystem for the Razor Lake-S and Razor Lake-HX lineups will remain virtually identical to Nova Lake and will include two Xe3 graphics cores. The exception is Razor Lake-AX, for which significantly more powerful integrated graphics were previously predicted.
Series Limitations
bLLC technology will not be available in all products. Specifically, the Nova Lake-HX lineup and the Razor Lake-AX model will not receive it. Razor Lake-AX is positioned as a less advanced product, which plans to reuse Coyote Cove and Arctic Wolf cores, which also deprives the series of overclocking support.
However…
Despite the promising leaks, there are still several generations of Intel mobile technology development before the release of Razor Lake processors. The company has not officially confirmed this information, so the final specifications and cache integration plans may change. Nevertheless, Intel’s strategy shows a commitment to fundamental architectural changes that will help it compete better with current rival solutions.
