GeForce Now Finally Adds Firefox Support
19.08.26
Nvidia has officially announced that the popular Mozilla Firefox browser is now included in the list of platforms supported by the GeForce Now cloud gaming service. This follows months of collaborative efforts between Nvidia and the Mozilla team to improve compatibility and hardware video acceleration within the browser.
What Changed for Users?
Previously, Firefox lacked formal support, which led to critical issues such as mouse input errors, missing codecs, and poor streaming quality. Now, these barriers have been removed. Gamers can stream titles directly through the browser at up to 1440p resolution and 120 FPS, without being tethered to Chromium-based browsers.
System Requirements
To start using GeForce Now in Firefox, you must install the latest version of the browser, 154.0. The new version is available for download on the official Mozilla website.
Future Development and Features
The collaboration between the developers has positively impacted hardware acceleration and video decoding performance within the browser. Furthermore, Mozilla plans to release a refreshed Firefox design in the near future. You can preview these upcoming visual changes now by installing the Nightly version of the browser.
Should You Switch to Firefox for Cloud Gaming?
If you previously avoided Firefox due to gaming bugs, this update fully resolves those stability concerns. With full support for codecs and hardware resources, the browser is now a viable tool for cloud gaming, delivering high frame rates and crisp visuals comparable to Chromium-based alternatives.
