Apple found a way not to raise the price of the iPhone 18 Pro
26.06.26
Despite predictions of a sharp increase in cost to $1,399 and Tim Cook’s warning about the inevitable rise in the price of gadgets, Apple has found a way to keep the prices of the iPhone 18 Pro within acceptable limits. According to a report by analyst Max Weinbach, which cites data from JP Morgan, the company intends to compensate for the increase in costs by aggressive cost optimization.
Increasing cost
The main blow to the production budget is caused by memory. In the period from 2025 to 2027, Apple’s costs for DRAM and flash memory will increase significantly – from $65 to $228 per device. In order to maintain margins, the company is aggressively cutting expenses in other areas. The production cost of the iPhone 18 Pro (excluding memory costs) is expected to drop from $449 to $426. For the iPhone 19 Pro, experts predict an even more optimized figure of $384.
How Apple plans to save money
One of the key optimization factors will be the abandonment of Qualcomm products in favor of Apple’s own 5G modem. The transition to in-house production components is an important part of the strategy to reduce operating costs. Despite attempts to save, analysts at JP Morgan forecast an increase in the cost of production by $26 this year and $56 next year. As a result, in order to maintain the profit margin, Apple can increase the cost of the basic models by $50-100.
What does this mean for buyers?
A price increase of 50-100 dollars (approximately 2,000-4,000 UAH) cannot be called critical, especially against the background of fears of a “shock” increase in price by one and a half times. However, it remains an open question how such a strategy will affect the final product.
