LG xBoom Blast: A powerful portable speaker for extreme parties

LG Electronics has unveiled the LG xBoom Blast, a portable Bluetooth speaker specifically designed for outdoor environments. The device combines high output power, a rugged design, and advanced audio technologies, making it a versatile solution for camping, poolside, or beach outings.

Audio Performance and Specifications

The core of the sound system comprises two 5.25-inch neodymium woofers and a pair of 20mm tweeters from Danish brand Peerless. The system was tuned under the LG Signature Sound brand in collaboration with musician will.i.am.

Device performance:

  • Peak power on mains: 220W.
  • Peak power on battery: 210W.

Playback quality is optimized by intelligent systems: real-time automatic sound tuning and the Space Calibration Pro function, which adjusts audio parameters to match specific environmental conditions.

Design and Battery Life

The LG xBoom Blast is built for intense outdoor use. The housing is protected against moisture and dust according to the IP68 standard. Additionally, the acoustic system has successfully passed seven durability tests in accordance with military standards.

A built-in strap is included for comfortable portability. A key feature is the swappable 99Wh battery, which provides up to 36 hours of playback. The design allows users to quickly replace a depleted battery with a charged one.

Additional Features and Connectivity

Users can sync multiple xBoom Blast speakers into a single wireless sound system. Music playback options include Bluetooth or wired USB-C connections. The design is complemented by RGB lighting and support for virtual soundstage technology.

Pricing and Availability

The manufacturer has not yet disclosed the exact retail price for the LG xBoom Blast. Pricing information is expected to be announced shortly, with initial global sales scheduled for this month.

The LG xBoom Blast appears to be a universal sound system for those who find standard compact portable speakers insufficient. Its high output, full IP68 protection, replaceable battery, and adaptive sound tuning make it an intriguing option for camping, beach vacations, and large open spaces. A final verdict on its market competitiveness will follow the official retail price announcement.
