ChatTJB Replaces AI With a Real Human
10.08.26
ChatTJB turns the concept of modern chatbots upside down. While the rest of the world races to advance AI, project creator Tucker Bryant has introduced a “human” chatbot concept, where responses are generated exclusively by a real person.
What Is ChatTJB?
ChatTJB is a satirical art project. Its founder, Tucker Bryant, calls it a next-generation “Large Living Experience” (LLE). The main difference is that responses do not come from probabilistic AI models, but go through a “biological substrate of thought.” In other words, Tucker reads every request personally and answers when he finds the time and inclination.
The author created the service as a response to “cognitive surrender”—the human habit of blindly trusting algorithms and AI advice. According to Bryant, ChatTJB helps bring a sense of unpredictability and sincerity back into communication.
Project Highlights
Tucker Bryant processes about 1,000 responses daily. Requests range from everyday asks, like dinner recipes, to deeply personal experiences. The project author notes that he often acts as a “friend on the line” and sometimes even uses his skills as an artist if users ask him to draw something. Interestingly, the audience has started “looking after” the author: users often remind him to drink water and take breaks, showing concern for the real operator behind the chatbot.
Development and Monetization

The initial marketing push involved placing a large billboard in San Francisco, costing $6,000 per month. Despite the high price tag, the project went viral and grabbed significant attention.
Ways to Participate
- Basic Version: Interacting with the author through the chat interface.
- ChatTJB Pro: A subscription for those who want to financially support the author and the billboard rent. It is worth noting that a paid subscription does not speed up response times.
In the near future, Tucker Bryant plans to bring on “approved volunteers” to help with replies to avoid burnout, as well as implement moderation tools to ensure safety within the service.
If you are looking to escape soulless, canned AI phrases and are willing to wait for a response from a real human, ChatTJB is an excellent experiment. However, you should not view it as a professional tool for business tasks. It is a project about support, human connection, and an attempt to contrast AI with the “human” touch.
