Samsung is expanding the medical capabilities of its wireless earbuds. The Galaxy Buds 3 Pro and Galaxy Buds 4 Pro have received over-the-counter (OTC) hearing aid functionality, which has been FDA-cleared and is designed for adults with mild to moderate hearing loss.

How to Set Up Hearing Aid Features

The customization process for individual user needs is straightforward:

• The user must complete a special hearing test via a connected Galaxy series smartphone.
• The procedure takes approximately five minutes and provides medical-grade accuracy.
• The system classifies hearing into four categories: normal, mild loss, moderate, and severe or profound impairment.
• All data collected is integrated into the Samsung Health app for ongoing monitoring.

Sound Adaptation and Features

Based on individual test results, the earbuds automatically adjust playback parameters. The device amplifies sounds that the user may struggle to perceive on their own—this applies to whispers, high-frequency signals, and voices of interlocutors at a distance. The hearing aid functionality works in tandem with other premium Galaxy Buds features: Active Noise Cancellation and beamforming directional microphones, which focus sound specifically from the source the user is looking at.

The arrival of hearing aid technology in standard TWS earbuds demonstrates how the line between consumer electronics and specialized devices is gradually blurring.
