A refrigerator for the people in Japan: the Do Hiemon Box cabin to beat the heat

A refrigerator for people in Japan: how the cabin is arranged

The Japanese company Trusco Nakayama has developed a unique device to combat abnormal heat — a cooling chamber for people, called the Do Hiemon Box. The novelty is designed to save residents and guests of the country from dangerous temperatures against the background of heat strokes, which have become more frequent.

How the Japanese solved the heat problem

The device is a specialized cabin similar to a refrigerator. A constant temperature of 15 °C is maintained. Structurally, the development is inspired by vending machines, which are widespread in Japan, because the company Trusco Nakayama specializes in the production of vending machines and refrigeration equipment.

The width of the refrigerating chamber is 931 mm, and the height is 2029 mm. The weight of the device is 293 kg. The cabin is mounted on wheels, so it does not require special installation and can be freely used both indoors and outdoors.

Instant cooling

After a person goes inside and sits in a chair, a powerful stream of air with a temperature of about 5 ° C begins to be directed at his head, neck, shoulders and back. Significant cooling can be felt after only 5 minutes of being inside, and 10 minutes is enough to significantly alleviate the symptoms of heat exhaustion.

3 modes of air circulation and cooling are provided for users. To prevent possible hypothermia, the device is equipped with an automatic shutdown function after 20 minutes of operation.

Device price

The cost of such a cooling cabin is about $9,230 (USD 9,230/378,857 hryvnias). The Trusco Nakayama company actively offers its development to enterprises throughout the country.

Do Hiemon Boxes are already installed and operating successfully in a number of public places across Japan. The country, like many other regions of the world, suffers from destructive waves of abnormal heat. The main advantage of the development is its economy: the electricity consumption of such a refrigerator for people is half that of a standard air conditioner.
