Xiaomi ends the era of “top value for money”: prices have risen again

Starting August 2, 2026, Xiaomi officially increased prices for its key smartphone lineups in China. This marks the second price hike this year, effectively putting an end to the brand’s era of aggressive dumping.

The price increase has affected almost all current models: from devices under the youth-oriented sub-brand Redmi to the premium flagships of the Xiaomi 17 series. On average, the price of most gadgets has increased by 300 yuan:

• Redmi Turbo 5: $385 ($385 / 15897 UAH);
• Redmi Turbo 5 Max: $415 ($415 / 17135 UAH);
• Redmi K90: $460 ($460 / 18992 UAH);
• Redmi K90 Max: $520 ($520 / 21469 UAH);
• Redmi K90 Ultra: $490 ($490 / 20230 UAH);
• Redmi K90 Pro Max: $665 ($665 / 27453 UAH);
• Xiaomi 17: $710 ($710 / 29311 UAH);
• Xiaomi 17 Pro: $800 ($800 / 33027 UAH);
• Xiaomi 17 Pro Max: $960 ($960 / 39632 UAH).

Xiaomi 17 Pro Max: leader in price growth

The top-tier Xiaomi 17 Pro Max smartphone has been hit hardest by this situation. The device’s price increased by 500 yuan (approximately $75 or 3350 UAH). For users accustomed to seeing Xiaomi as the “top value for money” brand, such a change may be disappointing.

Reasons for the price increase

The problem is global in nature and affects components from both Qualcomm and MediaTek. The main reasons for the price hike are:

• Critical state of the component market and rising silicon prices.
• Increase in logistics costs.
• Rapid increase in the cost of memory modules: according to Redmi President Lu Weibing, they have become nearly four times more expensive over the past year.

As Lu Weibing noted, the current period is the most challenging for the entire mobile industry in the last decade.

Significance for the international market

While the new rates are currently only applicable in China, market trends usually lead to similar price increases in other regions. It is likely that we should expect a revision of costs on global platforms soon. Buyers should plan their budgets in advance if they intend to purchase the company’s latest flagships.
