Xiaomi Debuts Budget-Friendly Redmi 17 5G With 3.5mm Jack
06.08.26Xiaomi has officially unveiled its new budget smartphone, the Redmi 17 5G, in the Chinese market. This model is aimed at users who prioritize battery life and the presence of a standard audio jack, a feature that is becoming increasingly rare in modern devices. Note that just a few days ago, the entry-level Redmi 17 4G went on sale in Poland and Ukraine without an official announcement.
Technical Specifications
The smartphone features a modern 6.9-inch LCD display with a resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels, supporting a 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate. It is powered by a 6nm Unisoc T8300 processor (two Cortex-A78 cores and six Cortex-A55 cores, with Mali-G57 graphics). The device is available in configurations with up to 6GB of RAM (LPDDR4x) and 128GB of storage (UFS 2.2), expandable via microSD card.
Battery Life and Camera
The Redmi 17 5G is equipped with an impressive 6300mAh battery, though it is smaller than the 4G model’s 7500mAh, supporting 15W wired charging and 7.5W reverse charging via the USB Type-C port. The camera system features a 13-megapixel primary sensor and an 8-megapixel selfie camera.
Price and Availability
The device is available in three color options: black, white, and blue. The body is 8.15 mm thick and weighs 210 grams. Xiaomi is offering special discounts at the start of sales.
Configuration Pricing
| Configuration | Base Price | Promo Price |
| 4GB/128GB | CNY 1,099 (~$162) | CNY 999 (~$148) |
| 6GB/128GB | CNY 1,299 (~$192) | CNY 1,199 (~$177) |
The main advantage of the model is the 3.5mm audio jack for connecting headphones, which is becoming increasingly rare. The smartphone runs HyperOS 3 based on Android and supports modern connectivity standards: 5G (dual-SIM), Wi-Fi 5, and Bluetooth 5.4. If you need an affordable gadget with a good battery for basic tasks and multimedia, the Redmi 17 5G is an excellent candidate for your next purchase.
