The new AMD Ryzen PRO 9000 received 3D V-Cache and record performance for workstations
16.05.26
AMD has officially announced the expansion of its line of processors for desktop workstations, presenting six new models of the Ryzen PRO 9000 series. The new products are based on the modern Zen 5 architecture, which provides a significant increase in efficiency. The updated list includes Ryzen 9 PRO 9965X3D, 9 PRO 9965, 9 PRO 9955, 7 PRO 9755X3D, 7 PRO 9755 and 5 PRO 9655 chips.
The new PRO series is aimed at the corporate segment and professionals who work with heavy calculations. If only three models were available in the first wave of launch, now the range covers all performance levels – from the mid-range Ryzen 5 to the flagship Ryzen 9 with unique cache memory technology. A feature of the release was the appearance of two models with 3D V-Cache, which were previously the prerogative of gaming solutions, but are now also available for workstations.
Technical specifications
The main technical parameters of the novelties were distributed as follows:
- Ryzen 9 PRO 9965X3D: flagship with 16 cores and 32 threads. It has 128 MB of L3 cache (thanks to 3D V-Cache), a frequency of up to 5.5 GHz and a TDP of 170 W.
- Ryzen 9 PRO 9965: 16-core version without 3D V-Cache, equipped with 64 MB L3 cache and TDP 170 W.
- Ryzen 9 PRO 9955: 12-core processor with 64 MB L3 cache and reduced TDP to 120 W.
- Ryzen 7 PRO 9755X3D: 8-core chip with 3D V-Cache support, total L3 cache is 96MB at 120W TDP.
- Ryzen 7 PRO 9755 and Ryzen 5 PRO 9655: younger solutions with 32 MB of L3 cache and a 120 W heat pack.

The main technical nuance is that AMD uses the original nomenclature for the PRO series. For example, the Ryzen 9 PRO 9965X3D is the business version of the consumer flagship Ryzen 9 9950X3D. The use of other indexes helps the manufacturer clearly separate products for the mass market and professional solutions with support for enterprise-level technologies.
Significant changes have also taken place in energy consumption. Previous versions of processors in this line (such as the Ryzen PRO 9945, 9745 and 9645) had a TDP of 65 W. The new models received a TDP of 120 W and 170 W, which indicates a significant increase in computing power and performance in multi-threaded modes.
3D V-Cache technology and artificial intelligence
The integration of 3D V-Cache technology into the professional series (models 9965X3D and 9755X3D) allows you to significantly speed up the operation of applications sensitive to delays and memory volume. AMD positions these models as a tool for scaling computing with the use of artificial intelligence. The updated architecture allows Zen 5 chips to cope with any type of workload from code compilation to processing data arrays.
