Maxsun MS MoDT 230H D4 WIFI and MS MoDT 205H D4 WIFI: compact boards with mobile Intel Core
14.05.26
MoDT (Mobile on Desktop) format motherboards are gradually winning the market thanks to the combination of the energy efficiency of mobile chips and the flexibility of desktop platforms. The Maxsun company has officially introduced two new products in this category – the MS MoDT 230H D4 WIFI and MS MoDT 205H D4 WIFI models, aimed at creating compact gaming PCs and powerful home media servers.
The solution from Maxsun is a specific product where the central processor of the Intel Core architecture is integrated into the board textolite without the possibility of further replacement. The concept of MoDT involves buying a ready-made “combo” of a motherboard and a CPU. The dimensions of the boards are 190×180 mm, which makes them only slightly larger than the standard Mini-ITX format. This approach provides maximum savings at the initial stage of assembly, but deprives the user of the possibility of a point upgrade of the processor in the future.
Technical specifications
Both boards received a modern layout and support for current interfaces. Despite the mobile past of the processors, they are architecturally full-fledged systems for working with external video cards and high-speed drives.

Intel Core 7 230H vs 205H
The key difference between the two presented models is the computing power of the soldered chips:
- The older model (230H) is equipped with an Intel Core 7 230H processor. This is a 10-core chip (6 productive and 4 energy-efficient cores) operating in 16 threads with a maximum frequency of 5.2 GHz. The increased TDP up to 115 W requires the installation of an additional heatsink on the power supply system (VRM).
- The younger model (205H) uses Intel Core 5 205H. The configuration includes 8 cores (4P + 4E), 12 threads and a peak frequency of up to 4.8 GHz. This model is cooler and suitable for quiet SFF systems.
Maxsun deliberately chose the DDR4 RAM standard for both new products. In 2026, this decision looks like a strategic move to make assembly cheaper – the user does not need to buy expensive DDR5. In addition, PCIe 5.0 x16 support ensures compatibility with the most powerful video cards without loss in bandwidth. The modular design of the VRM cooling on the older model emphasizes the seriousness of the approach to the operation of the chip at high power limits.
Cost
The cost of the systems is their strongest point. Maxsun has set the following price ranges:
- The younger version of the MS MoDT 205H is valued at less than UAH 6,000 ($150).
- The older version of the MS MoDT 230H costs about UAH 9,000 ($210).
Given that this price already includes a powerful processor and a motherboard with Wi-Fi, the offer looks competitive against the background of buying individual components.
