Intel Core 7 245HX: The new Arrow Lake chip turns out to be a clone of the Core Ultra 5 235HX
21.04.26
Intel has quietly expanded its Arrow Lake-HX lineup with the new Core 7 245HX processor. However, this low-profile launch quickly drew attention from experts, as the chip’s specifications turned out to be identical to another model from the company. According to Videocardz, this decision creates confusion in Intel’s internal product positioning.
Technical specifications: a mirror image
The Core 7 245HX features 14 cores, including 6 performance cores (P-cores) and 8 efficiency cores (E-cores). Its maximum turbo frequency reaches 5.1 GHz. A comparison of base and boost clock speeds for both core types shows complete parity with the Core Ultra 5 235HX from the Raptor Lake Refresh family. The integrated graphics configuration is also identical, featuring three Xe cores clocked at up to 1.8 GHz.
Rebranding and market implications
In essence, the Core 7 245HX is a rebranded version of the existing Core Ultra 5 235HX, with no changes in performance or architecture. This strategy may indicate Intel’s intention to expand the Core HX series without applying the Ultra branding across all models. However, such an approach may complicate decision-making for consumers who expect meaningful improvements from new product lines but instead receive identical specifications under a different name.
