Intel Core 5 320 shows Ryzen 5-level performance in early tests

Intel continues development of the Wildcat Lake mobile series, aimed at affordable devices. Recent online reports include test results mentioning the Core 3 310 and Core 5 320 models. These tests provide an initial look at the capabilities of the new processors.

Performance approaching more powerful models

According to published figures, the Intel Core 5 320 scores around 2600 points in single-core tests. This puts it on par with several more powerful chips, including Intel Core i5-14600, AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 375, and Intel Core Ultra 9 285H.

In multi-core testing, it reaches 7913 points. This is comparable to the results of AMD Ryzen 5 8640U and AMD Ryzen 5 7540U. The processor itself features a relatively simple configuration — six cores, of which only two are high-performance.

Series position and technical details

The Wildcat Lake series is expected to occupy the entry-level tier in the Core 300 mobile lineup. Full specifications have not been revealed, but it is known that higher-end models will support boost frequencies up to 4.6 GHz.

The graphics part is basic, with two Xe2 cores, indicating the chip is aimed at simple scenarios without heavy graphics demands.

Focus on affordable laptops

Based on current data, the new series targets budget laptops. In this segment, energy efficiency, reasonable pricing, and sufficient performance for daily tasks are the main priorities.

Notably, one test mentioned a Dell motherboard, hinting that laptops using these processors may be in preparation.

Overall assessment

From the early results, the Core 5 320 can deliver performance comparable to more expensive chips, especially in single-core tasks. Multi-core performance also remains competitive within its class.

Given its limited graphics and simplified architecture, these processors are primarily intended for basic scenarios — work, study, and everyday use. Overall, Wildcat Lake appears to be Intel’s step to strengthen its position in the budget segment without significant compromises in speed.
