Ford Debuts AI Assistant That Knows Everything About Your Car
13.08.26
Ford has officially unveiled a smart AI assistant designed for deep integration with Ford and Lincoln vehicles. The core feature of this system is its access to vehicle-specific data, transforming it from a standard voice assistant into an expert on your car’s operations.
At the current rollout stage, the service functions as a mobile chatbot, allowing Ford to provide support to approximately 8 million customers immediately without waiting for vehicle firmware updates.
AI Capabilities and Features
The AI possesses detailed knowledge of your specific vehicle’s technical state. Users can query:
- Current fuel levels;
- Fuel requirements for planned trips;
- Towing and payload specifications;
- Scheduled maintenance information.
A unique innovation allows users to upload photos, enabling the system to analyze images and advise whether your vehicle can accommodate specific cargo.
Launch Roadmap and Vehicle Integration
The initial phase is already underway, while full integration into in-car infotainment systems is scheduled for 2027. Eventually, the AI will interact directly with dashboard displays to manage multimedia, navigation, messaging, and comfort settings.
Technical Roadmap and Model Support
Ford is not limiting itself to a single AI model. The company’s strategy involves a flexible approach to supporting various Large Language Models (LLMs). Furthermore, there are plans to integrate Google Gemini as a more advanced alternative to the traditional Google Assistant.
Pricing
For now, Ford has stated that the use of the new AI assistant will be completely free of charge, with no paid subscriptions required.
Ford’s new AI assistant turns a standard chatbot into a personal automotive consultant. While the service currently operates via a mobile app, the company plans to move it directly into vehicle infotainment systems by 2027. If Ford maintains its free-access model, this technology could become one of the most significant components of the brand’s digital ecosystem.
