Figure and OpenAI crossed a humanoid robot with artificial intelligence in a prototype
17.03.24
Figure is working with OpenAI to develop a humanoid robot. The Figure startup first presented its robot a year ago, and now their Android has received artificial intelligence from OpenAI.
The Figure robot uses artificial intelligence from OpenAI to process data from external sensors and cameras for understanding and speech generation. AI also allows the robot to perform manipulations and precise actions using its hands.
A video has been published in which the robot communicates with a person, describes objects on the table and interacts with them. The video shows the robot picking up trash, passing an apple and rearranging dishes using precise, dexterous movements.
Since the start of the Figure project, their robot has been rapidly improving. Six months ago, the android confidently stood on its feet and began performing autonomous tasks. Two months ago, videos appeared of him loading boxes and operating a coffee machine. Now his movements are even more precise, and interaction with a person has reached a new level.
The person behind the project is Brett Adcock, who assembled a team of specialists from Boston Dynamics, Tesla, Google DeepMind and Archer Aviation. Adcock states an ambitious goal: “To create a worldwide AI model that will control humanoid robots at the billions of units.” It is known that Figure already has a contract with BMW to supply humanoid robots to the American plant in South Carolina.
“When Skynet realized itself as an individual, it spread through millions of network servers across the planet, penetrated every computer, every home, entangled everything.
