Dual 3D V-Cache: Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Enters the Market
26.03.26
AMD has disclosed details about the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 processor, which had previously surfaced through unofficial sources. This confirms that the product has reached the release stage and has not been canceled.
First Ryzen with Two 3D V-Cache Memory Chips
The new model, officially named Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition, becomes the first in the lineup to feature two 3D V-Cache memory chips. As a result, the total L3 cache capacity reaches 192 MB. For comparison, the 9950X3D and 9900X3D offer 128 MB, while the 9800X3D is equipped with 96 MB.
Lower Clock Speeds, Higher Power Consumption
The processor is based on the Zen 5 architecture and features 16 cores, but its maximum clock speed has been slightly reduced to 5.6 GHz. Comparable models reach up to 5.7 GHz. At the same time, the TDP has increased to 200 W, setting this chip apart from standard Ryzen offerings in terms of power consumption.
Performance Varies by Workload
According to AMD, performance gains over the 9950X3D range from 5% to 13%. Actual results depend on specific workloads and software environments. Previous testing indicated that the 9950X3D delivers modest improvements over the 9950X in productivity tasks, while gaming performance differences can be more pronounced.
Release Date Yet to Be Announced
At this stage, the company has not disclosed when the processor will become available or how much it will cost. These details are expected to be announced closer to launch.
