Apple Pencil will become serviceable
14.07.26
Apple is preparing for the release of new versions of Apple Pencil styluses. It is expected that the release of the devices will take place in the first half of 2027 and will be dedicated to updating the iPad tablet line. Information about future developments was shared by Bloomberg.
There are two versions of the stylus in development, codenamed B582 and B632, each of which is an evolutionary continuation of the current products.
Two models of styluses
- The B582 model: will be the successor to the basic version of the Apple Pencil with a USB-C connector, released in November 2023.
- Model B632: is an upgraded version of the advanced Apple Pencil Pro that debuted in May 2024.
At this point, the Apple Pencil Pro already has advanced features such as a case compression force sensor. It is expected that the future novelties will retain all the advantages of the current generations, having received engineering improvements.
A new approach
A key change in devices will be maintainability. At the moment, iFixit experts rate all current versions of the Apple Pencil as non-repairable due to their non-disassemble design, which makes replacing a dead battery nearly impossible. This forces users to buy a new device instead of a battery that has failed due to degradation.
Apple’s decision to revise the design is due to strict regulatory requirements of the European Union, which oblige manufacturers to make replacing batteries in electronics more affordable. Thus, the design of the Apple Pencil 2027 can be adapted so that the owner can independently change the battery.
