Xiaomi 17 Max: the autonomy of the power bank and the power of the top flagship

At a large-scale presentation in China, the technology giant Xiaomi showed a new flagship device in the Xiaomi 17 series, topped with a premium Max set-top box.

Xiaomi 17 Max is a significantly improved and enlarged basic version of the flagship of the thirty-seventh line. It is very important not to confuse this gadget with the expected Pro Max device. The Max version does not come with an additional color camera display. Thanks to this, the manufacturer managed to make the ergonomics strict, eliminate unnecessary details, while maintaining a reasonable weight and size frame to accommodate a record-breaking energy storage.

Technical specifications

In terms of its technical component, the new device has adopted advanced market standards. This is what Xiaomi 17 Max offers to buyers:

• Display: 6.9-inch OLED of the new generation without the PenTile effect, which has high detail (1.5K resolution), a reserve of local peak brightness up to 3500 nits and a frame scan up to 120 Hz;
• Hardware chip: Powerful high-end processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5;
• Storage: The RAM configuration includes up to 16 GB of RAM, the size of the physical flash drive is up to 512 GB (the younger version is equipped with a ratio of 12 GB + 256 GB);
• Battery parameters: Innovative capacity of 8000 mAh, equipped with a 100W super fast charge block via a wired interface and support for a 50W high-speed induction protocol;
• Lens set: 200-megapixel main matrix with a physical scale of 1/1.4 inch with built-in video sequence rendering up to 8K and 4K Dolby Vision HDR, 50 MP wide-angle module (Omnivision OV50M sensor model), TV (Sony IMX882) and pure 3x magnification without quality loss. All optics are optimized in the laboratory of the legendary Leica brand;
• Other: Integrated up-to-date 5G cellular communication standard, seventh generation Wi-Fi, NFC pairing module, high-speed USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 bus port, advanced Bluetooth 5.4 audio scan, and deep-protected dust-moisture-resistant metal
• Firmware version: Comes to the world under the branded system launcher HyperOS 3 based on the pure kernel of the Android 16 platform;
• Available range of colors: Natural black (Black), white (White), fresh sky blue (Blue).

Features of the series

Unlike the related model range of the brand, in the structure of the new device there were no complex mechanical or electronic complications of the type of screens with a second display, which is used in specific variations of the line. Thus, Xiaomi has created an uncompromisingly practical “superflagship” that is perfectly protected by a strong silicate hardened coating of the original Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0 and is resistant to long-term immersion in clean fresh water in accordance with the strict standards of the IP68 rating.

Release date and price

To date, the device is presented as an exclusive advanced gadget locally for residents of China. The specific start of the implementation of the official Russified batches of the smartphone under the global program will be announced by representatives of the Xiaomi company a little later. Current gray and resale copies are available in domestic regional markets.

When announcing the basic price lists, the corporation maintained a pleasant pragmatism regarding the first customers. The cost of the most modest version of the device with 12 and 256 GB storage modifications was approximately UAH 26,000 ($630) when converting currencies. Premium assembly options will cost more, proportionally to the increased density of the smartphone’s flash memory.
