The new Razer Huntsman V3 HE Magnetic: less speed, more capabilities

Razer has expanded its gaming keyboard lineup with the introduction of the Huntsman V3 HE Magnetic. These new models feature Hall Effect magnetic switches, extensive customization options, and an 8000Hz polling rate. At the same time, the company has acknowledged that they are slightly slower in response time compared to its signature optical switch models.

Magnetic Flexibility Versus Optical Speed

While every millisecond is critical in esports, Razer is betting on customization. The actuation latency in the Huntsman V3 HE Magnetic is 0.60ms, whereas the brand’s keyboards with optical switches clock in at 0.48ms. Nevertheless, the main highlight is the ability to fine-tune the actuation point for each key individually, ranging from 0.1mm to 4mm. These switches are rated for up to 100 million keystrokes.

Software Tricks and 8000Hz Polling

To ensure superiority in online gaming, the developers have added a series of specialized functions:

• Rapid Trigger Mode: Instant reset of the key upon release (threshold starting at 0.1mm).
• Snap Tap: Prioritizes the latest input for rapid strafing, for example between A and D.
• Dynamic Keystroke: Support for up to 4 actions per key based on travel depth.
• Snap Flex: Assign separate commands to press and release actions.

The device features an 8000Hz polling rate, which minimizes input latency.

Design

The cases are crafted from aircraft-grade aluminum, with doubleshot PBT keycaps. The construction includes sound-dampening foam and factory-lubricated switches. Notably, there is no support for hot-swapping, as the company maintains that third-party interference could disrupt the precise magnetic sensors.
