Steam has received a plugin that shows games developed in Russia

Valve SteamVR 2.0

A new extension has been released for the Steam client, displaying game origin labels directly in the store interface. The plugin indicates whether a game was developed by a Ukrainian or Russian studio and adds corresponding labels to project pages.

The extension works through the third-party framework Millennium, designed for customizing the Steam interface.

Game Origin Display Plugin

Millennium is an open-source framework that integrates with the Steam client and adds an extension system. It allows users to install themes, plugins, and other interface modifications.

After installing the corresponding plugin, additional markers appear in the store. They appear:

  • on individual game pages;
  • in project lists within the store;
  • in some elements of the client interface.

These markers indicate the developer’s country of origin and help you navigate the catalog more quickly.

How to install the extension

For the plugin to work, you must first install Millennium, and then add the extension through the plugin manager.

Basic installation steps:

  1. Download the Millennium framework from the official website steamrew.app.
  2. Install Millennium and launch the Steam client. After installation, a new Millennium menu will appear in the interface.
  3. Open the Extension Manager: Millennium → Plugins.
  4. Select Manage Extensions → Install Extension.
  5. Insert the extension code: 788ed8554492 and confirm the installation.
  6. Restart the Steam client.
  7. Click the extension icon in the upper right corner and install the plugin by providing its link.

After installation, you may need to configure additional files:

  • Go to the Steam\plugins\extendium.extensions folder;
  • Find a directory with a name containing Cyrillic characters (e.g. %D0%...);
  • Rename it to Latin characters, for example, hrai;
  • Restart Steam again.

After this, the client will begin displaying additional labels indicating the game developer’s country.
