Retroid Pocket Nova received a rare AMOLED display for retro consoles
26.06.26
Retroid has introduced the Pocket Nova portable console, which will take the experience of playing classic titles to a new level. In an era when most retro consoles use standard IPS panels, the novelty stands out thanks to the technological AMOLED screen.
Pocket Nova is a specialized device created with an emphasis on the comfortable passage of classic games of the 8-bit and 16-bit eras. The form factor of the console is focused on convenient control of the usual set of buttons and support for the emulation of games from such legendary platforms as PS1, PSP and Sega Dreamcast.
Display characteristics
The main advantage of the console was the screen. It’s a 4.5-inch AMOLED panel with a 4:3 aspect ratio. The choice of this format is due to the need to correctly display retro content without unnecessary frames. The resolution of the screen is 1280×960 pixels. Another impressive characteristic is the refresh rate of 120 Hz – a rare solution for devices of this class, which ensures a high smoothness of the visual range.
What else is known about the device
At the moment, the manufacturer has not yet disclosed the detailed hardware base. Technical details, including the type of processor installed and battery capacity, remain under wraps. However, the company has already demonstrated different color variants of the body, which will be available to buyers after the start of sales.
Price and availability

At the moment, the official release date and cost of the Retroid Pocket Nova console have not been officially announced. The company promised to reveal more information in the near future. Lovers of retro games have to wait for updates from developers.
