PC market in Q2: Apple increases sales amid decline of other manufacturers

In the second quarter of 2026, the only clear leader in the global computer market was Apple. While the industry faces another downturn, Apple managed to demonstrate strong growth, as evidenced by fresh data from analysts IDC.

Quarterly results: Apple’s success against general market stagnation

According to IDC, Mac sales totaled 6.7 million units in the second quarter of 2026, giving the company a 9.9% market share. For comparison, for the same period last year the figures were more modest: 6.1 million devices and 8.5% share. In percentage terms, Mac shipments grew by 10.1%.

In general, there is a negative trend in the market: the volume of shipments decreased from 71.7 million to 68.2 million devices, which is a drop of 4.9%.

How other players performed

Most manufacturers of Windows devices have been seriously affected by rising prices for components, in particular RAM. The results of the main competitors are as follows:

  • Lenovo: takes first place with a share of 24.4%, shipping 16.6 million devices (a year earlier it was 17 million).
  • HP: second place with a result of 13 million devices and a share of 19.1% (previously 14.3 million and 19.9%).
  • Dell: closes the top three with 9.3 million PCs sold, up from 9.8 million last year.
  • Asus: is in fifth place with 5 million shipments. Despite the stagnation (+0.2% growth), the company managed to increase its market share from 7% to 7.4% due to a general decline in competitors’ performance.

Forecasts and reasons for price changes

Experts say the sharp rise in prices for RAM and SSDs is the key factor in the current state of the market. IDC analysts forecast a noticeable slowdown in growth rates in the second half of 2026 and expect further increases in electronics prices throughout 2027.

Experts attribute Apple’s success to effective sales of the MacBook Neo, as well as to the fact that the company adjusted its prices only at the end of June, which allowed it to maintain high demand in the reporting quarter. The impact of the latest price hike on Apple’s sales will only become clear once third-quarter results are published.
