OnePlus Nord 6 gets a 9000 mAh battery: the company shifts focus to endurance and heavy use

OnePlus has introduced the Nord 6 smartphone, placing the emphasis not so much on its sub-flagship label as on practical features — extended battery life, stable performance, and improved durability.

Focus on long battery life

One of the key highlights of the device is its 9000 mAh silicon-carbon battery. Despite the large capacity, the smartphone maintains a relatively slim profile of around 8.5 mm.

According to the manufacturer, the device can last for several days under active use. It supports 80W fast charging, allowing the battery to be replenished in about an hour. A bypass charging mode is also available, delivering power directly to the processor during gaming sessions, reducing battery strain and heat generation.

Hardware platform and display

The smartphone is powered by a 4 nm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor paired with up to 12 GB of LPDDR5X RAM. This configuration is designed to handle demanding tasks, including modern mobile gaming.

It features a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a refresh rate of up to 165 Hz and a touch sampling rate of up to 3200 Hz. Peak brightness reaches 1800 nits, ensuring good visibility even in bright conditions. A dedicated touch processing chip improves input accuracy.

Protection and build

The Nord 6 comes with multiple protection ratings — IP66, IP68, and IP69K — providing resistance to dust, water, and high-pressure jets. The device has also passed durability tests in line with the MIL-STD-810H military standard.

Software and cameras

The smartphone runs OxygenOS 16 based on Android 16. It includes AI-powered features, including tools based on Google Gemini for data processing and everyday task assistance.

The main camera features a 50 MP sensor with optical image stabilization, while the front camera offers 32 MP resolution with autofocus and 4K video recording. Software features include tools for removing unwanted objects and enhancing image sharpness.

Price and availability

Sales began on April 9 in India. The smartphone is available in three colors: mint, silver, and black. The base version with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage is priced at around $420, while the 12 GB variant costs approximately $455.

OnePlus promises long-term support, including four years of OS updates and up to six years of security patches. There is no information yet about a global release.
