Lenovo Releases Lecoo Air 14: Thin and Light MacBook Neo Competitor Based on Wildcat Lake

Lenovo has released Lecoo Air 14: a thin and light competitor to the MacBook Neo based on Wildcat Lake

Lenovo has expanded its range of ultrabooks based on Intel Wildcat Lake processors with a new model – Lecoo Air 14. The device is positioned as an affordable and lightweight alternative to laptops in the ultraportable segment, including competition with the MacBook Neo.

Design and dimensions

The main advantage of the Lecoo Air 14 is its ultra-light body: with a thickness of only 12.95 mm (1.29 cm), the laptop weighs less than one kilogram – exactly 990 grams (2.18 lbs).

Technical characteristics

“Under the hood” of the device there is a mid-range Intel Core 5 315 processor (Wildcat Lake family). According to the results of the first tests, the chips in this series are comparable in performance to the Apple A18 Pro. The base model is equipped with 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM (soldered on board, upgrade is not possible) and a 512 GB drive. Users can independently replace the SSD with a larger one.

Autonomy is provided by a 50 Wh battery, which, according to the manufacturer, can withstand up to 16.8 hours of operation in office scenarios. Ports include three USB-C connectors (two with support for 100W PD and DP 1.4, one for data transfer), all supporting speeds of 5 Gbps, and there is also a 3.5 mm audio jack.

Screen and multimedia

The display has standard specifications for this segment: 14-inch diagonal, 1920×1200 pixel resolution, 60 Hz refresh rate and 300 nits brightness. The sRGB color gamut is 100%, which is a good indicator for a budget ultrabook.

Price and availability

The new product is currently available on the Chinese market. The cost of a model with a 512 GB drive is 4,088 yuan, which is equivalent to approximately 23,250 hryvnia ($603). The device may be renamed under the global IdeaPad brand, but wide international availability under the original name is still in question.
