Kill Block in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4: dynamic maps and new combat rules
20.07.26
Activision and Infinity Ward have announced a new multiplayer Kill Block mode for the anticipated shooter Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. The project makes heavy use of procedural generation, offering players a unique experience of adaptation in each match.
Features of the new regime
The basis of the gameplay of Kill Block is built on the use of a map divided into three sections. Each section consists of special elements called Slabs. Slabs change randomly before the start of each match. At the release of the game, users will have access to more than 500 variations of cards. When developing the elements, the authors combined inspiration from the classic locations of the Modern Warfare series with completely new modules created from scratch.
Gameplay features and modes
Kill Block mode will offer support for two battle formats:
- 3v3 shootout
- 10v10 shootout
The developers clarified that the rest of the classic game formats will become available later. At the beginning of the journey, players will have to use the same random sets of weapons and equipment. In the future, Infinity Ward plans to implement a mechanic that will allow players to customize their gear.
Release date and details
The release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is scheduled for October 23. The game will appear on the following platforms: PC (Steam, Microsoft Store, Battle.net), Xbox Series, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2. Visitors to the Fanatics Fest NYC exhibition in New York (until July 19) can get acquainted with the first developments.
Kill Block is a bold experiment in procedural generation. If you like stability in level geometry, this mode may seem unusual, but for fans of adaptive gameplay, the concept of 500 map options promises longevity of the multiplayer component.
