India produced every fourth iPhone today

Apple continues to shift some smartphone production from China to other countries. According to media reports, about a quarter of all iPhones are now produced in India.

This figure is in line with analysts’ forecasts from JPMorgan, which were made back in 2022.

India is becoming a new manufacturing hub

According to TechCrunch, Indian companies will produce approximately 55 million iPhones in 2025. Apple‘s total global smartphone production for this period is estimated at approximately 220–230 million devices.

The company is already producing the entire iPhone 17 lineup in the country. According to CEO Tim Cook, a significant portion of iPhone demand in the US is met by devices manufactured in India.

Production growth accelerated in 2025 amid instability in China and changes in trade tariffs from the United States.

A Growing Market for Apple

India is becoming not only a production site for the company, but also an important sales market.

Last year, Apple sold approximately 14 million iPhones in the country—approximately 9% more than the previous year. The company’s total revenue in the Indian market exceeded $9 billion.

The company also plans to launch the Apple Pay payment service in the country soon. Additionally, the brand’s sixth flagship store opened last month.

Diversification Strategy

Expanding production and sales in India is part of Apple’s long-term strategy to diversify its supply chains.

The company is gradually reducing its reliance on manufacturing facilities in China while simultaneously strengthening its presence in one of the fastest-growing electronics markets.
