Hyundai will speed up in-car navigation by compressing data
10.03.26
Hyundai is updating the navigation map distribution system in its cars. The update applies to models with the Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) multimedia platform. Updates will be downloaded faster and installed automatically without the owner’s intervention.
How maps were updated before
Until recently, Hyundai car owners could update their standard navigation maps without visiting a dealership. To do this, they had to download files from the company’s official website and transfer them to the car’s system via a USB flash drive or SD card.
Starting in 2022, the company began implementing over-the-air (OTA) updates. The first model with this capability was the Hyundai Ioniq 5, and later the function appeared on other cars.
However, map and navigation software updates were relatively rare. They were usually distributed as part of large system update packages.

What’s changing
In the new version of the system, updates will be distributed in the form of compact data packages. This reduces download time and allows for more frequent updates.
Maps will be able to be updated even while the car is moving. In this case, the system will download only those map sections that are relevant for the current route or region. The downloaded data is installed in the background and activated the next time the car is started.
Availability and conditions
In Europe, the new online map update system will be available from March 2026.
For it to work, the car must be equipped with the ccNC multimedia system and an active Bluelink Pro subscription. The service costs 9.99 euros per month.
The subscription includes additional functions: streaming services, online navigation with traffic data, route planning taking into account charging stations, online speech recognition, a digital key for opening the car from a smartphone, as well as remote control functions – for example, starting the preheating or cooling of the interior.
