Huawei Watch GT 6 Pro Honma Edition: Huawei and Honma presented a limited edition watch for golf fans

Huawei together with Honma Golf released a special version of the smart watch Huawei Watch GT 6 Pro Honma Edition. The novelty is aimed at an audience for which golf has long become not just a sport, but a part of business and everyday life. The model was presented in South Korea, and the collaboration itself bets not so much on the mass market as on the niche of premium accessories with profile functions for golfers.

Design with an emphasis on premium materials

Huawei Watch GT 6 Pro Honma Edition received an aerospace grade titanium alloy case. The manufacturer emphasizes the combination of strength and relatively light weight, which is especially important for wearable devices designed for constant use during active movement. The screen is covered with sapphire glass, resistant to scratches and mechanical damage.

The smart watch comes with two straps at once. The first is made of black fluororubber and is designed for sports use. The second is made of synthetic fabric in brown and is oriented towards a more casual or business format. A separate element of the design was a metal buckle with a golden coating and Honma’s signature engraving, which emphasizes the device’s belonging to a limited series.

Externally, the model retains the signature style of the Watch GT line, but received more expensive finishing materials and a number of decorative elements related to the golf theme.

AMOLED outdoor display

One of the key features of the watch is a 1.47-inch AMOLED display with a peak brightness of up to 3000 nits. This figure is calculated for use of the device in direct sunlight – a typical problem for golfers who spend a lot of time on open courses.

The screen resolution is 466×466 pixels. The manufacturer claims high image clarity when displaying field maps, notifications and sports statistics. The increased brightness should also improve readability of the interface when navigating holes and viewing ranges.

Golf features and built-in virtual assistant

Huawei focused on specialized functions for golf. Watch GT 6 Pro Honma Edition supports downloading three-dimensional field maps in HD quality, which allows players to get more detailed information about the terrain and location of objects.

The watch is able to calculate the adjusted distance to the hole, taking into account differences in height and features of the terrain. The device also records the range of the last hit and helps analyze game statistics right during the game.

In fact, Huawei is trying to turn the watch into an analogue of a compact electronic caddy — an assistant that provides data for decision-making on the field. At the same time, the manufacturer has kept the standard set of functions: monitoring of heart rate, blood oxygen level, sleep, physical activity and training.

Autonomy and new battery technology

The model claims autonomous operation of up to 21 days without recharging. This indicator was made possible thanks to the use of a new generation silicon battery, which Huawei is gradually introducing into its wearable devices.

This is especially important for a sports watch with constant use of GPS and a bright AMOLED screen, as such devices usually require much more frequent charging. The manufacturer claims that the watch is designed for long-term use even with the active use of navigation and sports modes.

When will they go on sale and how much will they cost

At the time of the announcement, the price of the Huawei Watch GT 6 Pro Honma Edition has not been officially disclosed. However, given the limited edition, the use of premium materials and the collaboration with the Honma brand, the model is likely to be significantly more expensive than the standard versions of the Watch GT 6 Pro. So far, the device is presented only for the South Korean market, and information about the global launch remains unknown.
