How to get GTA 6 for free on Xbox: player experience and Microsoft Rewards features

Pre-orders for GTA 6 have already started, and while PS5 console users are leading early orders, Xbox users have discovered a way to get the game at a significant discount or even for free. One lucky player shared a screenshot of a receipt, proving they successfully purchased the Ultimate Edition without spending any real money.

How to get GTA 6 for free using Microsoft Rewards

The secret is the Microsoft Rewards program. A user who placed a free pre-order on June 25 has accumulated 100,000 bonus points over several years of active use of Microsoft services. In equivalent, this is equal to 100 dollars (about 4100 hryvnia), which can be spent on purchases in the internal Xbox Store.

In order to repeat this success, the user needed to accumulate points over a long period. The Microsoft program allows you to earn points for performing everyday activities:

  • Search queries in Bing
  • Using the Microsoft Edge browser
  • Make qualifying purchases of games, add-ons, movies and TV shows in the Microsoft Store

Even if you have not accumulated 100,000 points, this does not mean that the method is useless. By accumulating enough points to receive a gift card for $25 (about 1025 hryvnia), you can get a 25% discount on the purchase of the Ultimate Edition of the game.

Loyalty program comparison: Microsoft vs PlayStation

Given the success of Xbox players, it is worth noting the difference in approach to loyalty. Sony also offered a bonus program, but it closed last year and is not accepting new members. Those who have points left have until November of the current year to spend them. In turn, the Microsoft ecosystem continues to actively support users, making such “free” pre-orders an achievable reality for patient gamers.
