Google will add advertising to AI responses in search results
24.11.25
Google has begun public testing of advertising in the AI-generated answers mode. In the answers generated by the system based on the Gemini model, advertising materials with the appropriate “sponsored” mark may now appear. This was reported by SEO consultant Brody Clark, who was the first to notice the appearance of ads.
Google confirmed that advertising in AI Mode is part of long-term experiments. The company announced its intentions to integrate advertising units into AI answers back in May 2025. At the same time, a Google representative emphasized that a full-scale launch of advertising functions for a wide range of users is not yet planned.
In the form of advertising, it is placed at the bottom of the AI-answer, while organic links remain a priority and appear more sponsored. This logic of content delivery actually recreates the role of a personal assistant, which Google promotes in its materials about AI-functions.
The company is not the only one testing new monetization formats. Platform X, which previously operated as Twitter, also announced the integration of ad units into Answer AI. In parallel, reports are emerging that OpenAI is preparing its own advertising platform, which it plans to implement in ChatGPT.
