Game industry rebrand: CD Projekt is now CD Projekt RED
26.06.26
Polish company CD Projekt officially changes its corporate name to CD Projekt RED. This decision was unanimously adopted at the recent shareholders’ meeting and will soon become final once the paperwork is completed.
Why is the company rebranding?
Until the current moment, there was a division: “CD Projekt” was the main corporation, and “CD Projekt RED” – a division directly responsible for the development of games, including the cult franchises The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077. Now the management decided to switch to a single name. The main goal is to synchronize the name of all internal structures with a key brand that is already well known to players around the world.
Goal of brand unification
Shareholders are confident that securing the name CD Projekt RED will give the company a number of advantages. First, it will help to strengthen the association of the corporation with the successful role-playing games that created it. Second, the transition to a single name will ensure transparency and consistency in marketing communications. This will facilitate the process of recognition on the world market, as well as simplify HR processes – hiring personnel for the company will become more understandable for specialists.
Future projects and financial policy
An important consequence of the changes was the decision to suspend the payment of dividends. All the company’s profit will be sent to reserve capital. This confirms the intentions of the studio to focus on the intensive development and expansion of its assets. Among the future ambitious projects to which resources will be directed, the following are highlighted:
- The new trilogy of The Witcher universe.
- Addition “Songs of the Past” (Songs of the past) for the game The Witcher 3.
- Sequel to Cyberpunk.
- Mysterious project codenamed Hadar.
The decision to change the naming appears to be a logical step on the way to transform the company into a global player with a clear structure, where the interests of game development become a priority in all business processes.
