Gallipoli: a new chapter in the history of the WW1 Game Series

BlackMill Games is expanding its WW1 Game Series historical first-person shooter line-up with the Gallipoli project. The game invites players to go to the Middle Eastern front of the First World War, changing the usual European trenches to new theaters of combat.

At the moment, the series includes the following projects:

  • Verdun (2015) – Western Front;
  • Tannenberg (2019) – Eastern Front;
  • Isonzo (2022) – The Italian front.

Gameplay and location features

Gallipoli transports players to the conditions of expeditionary warfare. The game world includes a sea coast with amphibious landings, including the famous ship SS River Clyde, as well as desert areas of Mesopotamia, as well as battles in urban environments.

The central mechanic of the game was the mode for 50 players, built around the momentum system:

  • The Attacking Party (British Empire and ANZAC Forces): requires a rapid advance to maintain the tempo of the offensive and maintain high morale.
  • Defending (Ottoman Empire): the main emphasis is on fortifying key points to exhaust the enemy’s resources.

Classes and combat system

There are 10 historical classes for players with unique functions, from officers and medics to machine gunners. Gameplay preserves the “hardcore” roots of the series: realistic ballistics covering more than 50 types of weapons, a “one shot – one corpse” model, and a suppression system that negatively affects the accuracy of shooting and reloading under intense fire.

Release date

Initially, the release of Gallipoli was planned for May, but the developers decided to postpone the project. According to the latest trailer, the game is scheduled for release on August 20. The project will be available on the following platforms:

  • PlayStation 5;
  • Xbox Series;
  • PC.
