Capcom changes the classic: Resident Evil Veronica will be completely different
08.07.26
Capcom is actively preparing for the global release of the long-awaited remake of Resident Evil Veronica, scheduled for 2027. The company has already launched official pages of the project in digital stores. The game’s producer, Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, emphasized that the title was simplified by removing the prefix “Code” to emphasize the game’s status as a full-fledged part of the franchise.
List of platforms
The official list of platforms to launch the remake has already been confirmed. The project will be available to users of the following systems:
- PC (via the Steam platform);
- PlayStation 5;
- Xbox Series X/S;
- Nintendo Switch 2.
Gameplay features
One of the key changes was the decision to completely abandon the classic “fixed” camera characteristic of the 2000 original. The gameplay will be transferred to the format of a third-person view “over the shoulder”, which makes the project closer to the modern standards of the series, in particular the remake of Resident Evil 2.
Despite the presence of first-person shots in the debut trailer, the producer clarified that these are only stylistic cinematic techniques. The core mechanics of the game will remain unchanged and will use a third-person perspective. In terms of the combat system, Claire Redfield will rely on the quick deflection mechanic that sets the game apart from Resident Evil 4 or Requiem with their parrying hit system.
Price and prospects
Currently, the final cost of the game has not yet been approved by the developers. However, importer Play-Asia has already opened a pre-order at a price equivalent to 580 hryvnias ($14.15). This is significantly lower than the standard pricing for large projects, which are usually priced at $69.99.
Expected announcements
Capcom has confirmed its participation in Gamescom 2026, which will be held in Cologne from August 26 to 30. The studio is expected to show an extended trailer and share new development details at the event.
Given Capcom’s technological approach to its recent remakes and its choice of modern gameplay, Resident Evil Veronica promises to be a significant project in the line. Simplifying the title and switching to an over-the-shoulder perspective signal the publisher’s desire to make the game as accessible as possible for a modern audience, while maintaining the horror atmosphere.
