AMD FSR 4.1 technology is now available for Radeon RX 7000 graphics cards

AMD has officially launched FSR 4.1 scaling technology for Radeon RX 7000 series graphics adapters built on the RDNA 3 architecture. The update aims to improve image quality and ensure stable frame rates in modern video games.

FSR 4.1 is the latest scaling technology that has become available for owners of RDNA 3 architecture cards. Earlier in May, AMD announced a July release for the RX 7000 series, but the implementation of the solution was ahead of schedule. The toolkit allows players to improve the visual component and get smoother gameplay.

Extended support

According to the statement of Jack Huynh, who heads the corresponding division of AMD, the company is now focused on the development of “light” machine learning models. This is necessary in order to implement FSR 4.1 on a wider range of devices, including APUs with RDNA 3 architecture. The developer plans to add technology support for video cards based on RDNA 2, which, according to the roadmap, is expected in early 2027.

Availability of technology in games

At the moment, the AMD FSR 4.1 ecosystem already has more than 300 supported games. The list of compatible titles is actively expanding: the new technology will appear in the projects Doom: The Dark Ages Revelations (released on July 7) and Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced (released on July 9).

Is it worth updating to FSR 4.1?

The introduction of machine learning into the scaling algorithms makes FSR 4.1 an extremely important update for owners of current Radeon RX 7000 series cards. Given the company’s desire to optimize for weak “iron” through lightweight ML models, the technology is becoming a standard that will allow systems to remain relevant for a longer period of time. It is recommended to monitor for driver updates to enable this feature in new projects.
