Acer Swift Air 14: up to 19 hours of autonomy and a weight of 1.25 kg

Acer has officially announced its new light and productive portable laptop for work – Acer Swift Air 14 (model SFA14-i31). This sleek device is designed to compete in the premium portable solutions sector, offering long battery life, a high-quality 120Hz display and the latest processor platforms from Intel.

The Acer Swift Air 14 laptop is designed as an ideal workplace for modern professionals. This ultrabook in a metal design is aimed at performing resource-intensive everyday and professional office tasks. The trademark emphasis of the updated series was the transition to modern mobile platforms of the Core Series 3 series from Intel (also known as Wildcat Lake), which perfectly cope with their tasks while saving battery power.

Features of Acer Swift Air 14

Characteristics of Acer Swift Air 14

The user is offered a reliable iron for maximum speed without compromise. The laptop will receive different configuration options for solving business tasks of different levels of complexity.

  • Processor: Intel Core Series 3, up to the productive Core 7 350 (Wildcat Lake platform).
  • RAM: modern energy-efficient modules with a volume of up to 16 GB of LPDDR5 standard memory.
  • Storage: a high-speed M.2 SSD disk with a volume of 512 GB is installed as standard, with the possibility of further hardware modernization by the user up to a full 1 TB.
  • Display: 14 inches with a special ergonomic screen aspect ratio of 16:10. The screen has a resolution of 1920 × 1200 pixels, boasts a full 100% display of the sRGB color range, a consistently high frame rate of up to 120 Hz and a maximum operating brightness threshold of up to 350 nits.

Autonomy and battery features

Especially for long trips, the device was equipped with a capacious 3-cell lithium-ion battery of 70 Wh. According to Acer’s official tests, a full charge cycle is enough for up to 19 hours of stable streaming of high-quality video content or about 16 hours of standard web surfing.  In addition, there is a smart algorithm for ultra-fast battery recharging: the laptop charges from zero to 50% of energy in a short 30 minutes of being in the electrical network.

Case, design and modern wireless interfaces

The ergonomic ultra-thin device with a premium anodized aluminum alloy body has kept an ultra-light weight – the model has a weight indicator of only 1.25 kg. The laptop is equipped with a strong mechanical internal hinge, capable of comfortably opening the upper plane of the laptop completely to a horizontal position by a full 180 °. The physical block of inputs on the outer perimeter of the aluminum case has the following set: two reliable ports of the Thunderbolt 4 Type-C specification, one universal classic USB 3.2 Type-A connector and a combined standard audio socket (3.5 mm Jack). High-speed wireless communication modules of the new generation of Wi-Fi 6E and high-quality data transmission via the energy-efficient Bluetooth 5.3 protocol (or its further relevant gradations in the sales process) are directly responsible for high-quality wireless digital communication.

Release date and price

The global launch of the line on the markets is planned for mid-summer — the official commercial sale of the new product will start in July this year.

The starting price of official versions of Acer Swift Air 14 will be from $699 for the standard hardware configuration of the laptop.

If we draw analogies among the latest classmates in this price niche, the model from Acer comes with a starting price of $100 more than the most budget price offered by its main target rival — the ultrabook MacBook Neo (whose price will start at $599 on the market).
