Redmi A7 Pro: Xiaomi bets on a large display and battery life in the affordable segment

Xiaomi has introduced the Redmi A7 Pro to the European market, with the device already appearing on sale in several countries, including Italy. The new model continues the brand’s budget lineup, focusing on practical features and affordability.

At the same time, the lineup shows a shift in approach: instead of releasing a sequential successor, the company skipped a generation after Redmi A5 and moved directly to the new model. This decision stands out from its usual update cycle.

Large display focused on media consumption

The smartphone features a 6.9-inch IPS display. Its size places it close to compact tablets, making it more comfortable for watching content, though less convenient for one-handed use.

The resolution is limited to HD+, which affects image sharpness. However, smoother navigation is ensured by a 120 Hz refresh rate — a specification rarely seen in entry-level devices.

Performance for everyday use

The device is powered by the Unisoc T7250 processor, designed for basic usage scenarios. It is suitable for messaging, apps, and web browsing, but not intended for demanding tasks.

The smartphone runs on HyperOS 3. The company highlights improved system optimization, although 4 GB of RAM still represents the minimum acceptable level by current standards.

Battery life and basic cameras

One of the key features of the Redmi A7 Pro is its 6000 mAh battery. Combined with energy-efficient hardware, this should provide extended usage without frequent charging.

The camera setup remains basic: a 13 MP main sensor and an 8 MP front camera, suitable for everyday needs such as document capture and video calls.

Pricing and positioning

In Europe, the 64 GB version is priced at around €130, while the 128 GB variant costs about €150. The device is aimed at users who prioritize screen size and battery life over display sharpness or high performance.

Overall, the Redmi A7 Pro follows a familiar budget strategy, offering a balanced set of features with a focus on practicality.
