Lenovo AeroBlade: Under 10mm Thick and Fanless

At IFA 2026, Lenovo unveiled the AeroBlade, a concept laptop that completely replaces traditional fans with Frore Systems’ advanced solid-state AirJet cooling technology.

Positioning

Project AeroBlade is a research concept in which engineers reimagined every internal component to achieve extreme compactness. The main goal was to create a powerful fanless device, eliminating dust accumulation, mechanical failures, and operating noise.

AeroBlade Specs and Design

The laptop features a premium magnesium-aluminum chassis. Key specifications include:

• Display: OLED.
• Thickness: Under 10 mm.
• Weight: Under 830 g.
• Ports: 3 USB-C ports, including Thunderbolt 4.
• Connectivity: Wi-Fi 7 support.
• Cooling: Active solid-state architecture powered by four AirJet Mini modules.

AirJet Cooling System

The use of four AirJet Mini modules allows the system to dissipate up to 30W of heat (7.5W per module). This is significantly more efficient than previous single-module versions. This solution is ideal for modern energy-efficient processors, including the Intel Lunar Lake (17–30W TDP).

Availability

Currently, Project AeroBlade is a conceptual device created to demonstrate how modern technology can reduce laptop dimensions without sacrificing computing power, particularly for AI tasks. There is no word yet on when a commercial model might appear.

Lenovo AeroBlade shows that the traditional laptop design is gradually ceasing to be the only viable option. Removing fans frees up internal space while simultaneously eliminating a primary source of noise, dust, and mechanical wear. In their place is a solid-state system that currently looks more like a technological experiment than a ready replacement for traditional cooling.

However, such concepts often serve as a testing ground for solutions that eventually make their way into mass-market devices.
