Kingston DataTraveler Exodia G2: affordable flash drives with color marking and an emphasis on practicality
05.05.26
Kingston Technology has updated one of the most popular lines of USB drives, betting not on speed records, but on convenience and everyday versatility. The new series is aimed at users who value simplicity, reliability and clear navigation between devices, rather than working with heavy files.
Simple functionality instead of speed racing
The Kingston DataTraveler Exodia G2 model belongs to the budget segment, which is directly reflected in its performance. Maximum read speed reaches around 50MB/s, while writing is limited to around 5MB/s.
Such indicators are clearly not designed for work with large data sets such as 4K video or complex projects. On the other hand, for basic tasks – storing documents, tables, presentations or photos, it is more than enough.
Actually, the device closes the niche of “working flash drive for every day”, where stability and availability are more important than numbers in benchmarks.
Versatility and thoughtful design

The drive is equipped with a classic USB-A connector with support for the USB 3.2 Gen 1 interface and full backward compatibility with USB 2.0. This means that the flash drive will work without problems with almost any device – from old laptops to modern PCs.
Support for all major operating systems – Windows, macOS, Linux and Chrome OS – makes it the most versatile tool for data transfer.
Visual identification deserves special attention: each version has its own cap color depending on the amount of memory. This simple solution eliminates the need to manually check drives if there are multiple drives.
The cap itself is fixed on the case, which reduces the risk of its loss, and the built-in ring allows you to fasten the flash drive to keys or a backpack – a small thing, but critical for mobile use.
Volumes, price and positioning

The line includes four memory options:
- 64 GB – black
- 128 GB – blue
- 256 GB – green
- 512 GB – purple
The cost remains at the level of available solutions: from about $9 for the basic version to $61 for the advanced version. At the same time, the manufacturer offers a five-year limited warranty, which for the budget segment looks like a sure statement about reliability.
